Our Story

Spark and Ember began with a decision to stop scrolling and start making.

In December 2025, I deleted every social media app on my phone. I wanted my time back, and I wanted to see what would fill the space. Curiosity did. I started painting again, writing in the early mornings, and making things just for me. Ideas that had sat on a shelf for years finally got a chance.

Before this, I spent years running a small illustrated card company. When I closed it, I was left with a question: what do I want to make now, and who do I want to make it with?

The answer came around a table. In the spring of 2026, I started hosting The Table, a creative potluck where everyone brings a material to share and we make something together. People who swore they “weren’t creative” left with paint on their hands and something to talk about. That’s when I knew.

Spark and Ember is the grown-up version of that table. Workshops, community paintings, and little kits of creative mischief, all for people who’ve been carrying an idea around and need permission to begin.

Values

Curiosity
first.

We follow the “what if.” You don’t need a plan or a finished idea to start, just an interest in finding out what happens.

Permission
over
perfection.

No talent required, no experience needed, no wrong answers. The point is to begin, not to get it right.

Courage,
gently.

Trying something new takes nerve. We’ll nudge you a little past comfortable and stay right beside you while you’re there.

Make. time
to pause.

Creativity needs space. We protect time to slow down, look up, and notice what’s already there.

Our Mission

To give curious people the time, space, and permission to create.

We believe creativity isn’t a talent you’re born with. It’s a fire that needs tending. Spark and Ember brings people together to slow down, try something new, and reconnect with who they are, one brushstroke at a time.

Spark: Ignite your curiosity. Playful, low-pressure workshops where the only goal is to make something.

Ember: Feed your creativity. The tools, prompts, and community to keep it going once you’ve started.
